Biography
Ar. Resmi Navin is a Professor at KMEA College of Architecture, Kerala, India. She founded Space Solutions (currently Ar.R Architects) in Cochin in the year 2005. Received Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from University of South Florida, USA and now pursuing as academic coordinator at KMEA College of Architecture. She has been focusing on environmentally sensitive designs in her practice as well as directing the future generation of architects into the same. Vernacularism, Biomimicry, off –grid designing, adaptation of age old construction technique to the current life styles of people are a few of her aspirations towards the profession of Architecture.
Teaching
Started as teaching assistant at University of South Florida, USA. Was a visiting faculty at Sanskriti School of Interior Design, Kerala, India. Has been part of KMEA CoA from the start of the institution (2013). Has been involved as core faculty in both administrative and academic advancement of the institution. Year coordinator, coordinator in forming vision – mission statements for the institution, Section head, Academic coordinator, Chair – ICC, Infrastructure development are among the duties undertaken for the institution since then. Subjects taken are Architecture Design studios, Basic Design, Principles of Traditional Architecture, History of Architecture, Climatology, Building services, Acoustics and Cost effective Architecture.
Experience
Currently Professor at KMEA College of Architecture, Kerala, India. Principal architect at Ar.R Architects in Cochin in the year 2005. Involved in Water related design & construction works at Navin Construction Corporation, Kerala, India & San Engineering Company, Bangalore till date. Worked as research & teaching assistant at University of South Florida (USF), Florida, USA.
